A man was arrested for trying to sell counterfeit Viagra and a woman was sentenced to three months in jail for selling Viagra, according to the U. S. Attorney's Office.

In an interview on Wednesday, U. Attorney Kenneth Magidson announced that he had previously asked about the counterfeit medications, but he was unable to provide any information on them.

"This case is a serious case," the U. Attorney's Office said.

The investigation was led by special agent on work duty in the office of the Inspector General, who was also undercover, the U.

The investigation involved more than 100 counterfeit drugs seized by the United States Postal Service and an undercover narcotics investigation.

"We have received several reports of counterfeit Viagra that has been produced," said Acting Special Agent in Charge John P. McDaniel, special agent in charge of the United States Postal Inspection Service, Office of Inspector General. "We are very satisfied that the counterfeit drugs have been produced and that the products are being sold to consumers."

McDaniel and his agents were also requested to submit a "Risk of Counterfeit Product" to the U. Food and Drug Administration, McDaniel said.

A third of the counterfeit Viagra sold by the counterfeiters was recalled in October 2010, but investigators stopped the sale. The counterfeit Viagra is sold over the Internet and, according to the United States Attorney's Office, counterfeiters were sold by people without a prescription.

McDaniel said he has received several reports of people buying Viagra online and taking counterfeit pills that were meant to be taken by themselves.

"In many cases, we received reports of people buying Viagra online, taking the pills from a different person, putting them on a different website, buying from a different person or getting them from different websites," said McDaniel.

The U. Attorney's Office said that the investigation is ongoing and that the men arrested in this case may still be in prison.
